While waiting for the noodles that I had ordered from a hawker centre in Ipoh, my attention was drawn to the signboard for a stall selling Chicken Chop Rice. The English Language teacher in me cringed when I saw what awful language was used.
Aiyoh! There was this HKStyle Kinta Chop Rice. Goodness gracious, "Chop Rice". I hazard to guess that the hawker associated the Chop Rice with Chicken Chop. Now for my foreign blog visitors, you would most probably be wondering, "What the blazers is Chicken Chop?" For your information, no one outside of Malaysia or Singapore knows what the heck a chicken chop is! For your information, the chicken chop is a local creation and had something to do with those from Hainan who settled in Malaya. A chicken chop is a piece of de-boned chicken thigh, breaded and deep-fried or just plain grilled or pan-fried. Its accompanying sauces.
Then there is the "Hainanese Receipt" which should have been Hainanese Recipe. The most amusing one to me was the "Long-esrablished" reputation. The spelling and syntax are all wrong.
